Roeselare to Lille to Paris (9/19/09)

Saturday started out with a delicious breakfast at our hotel followed by Abe, Lara, Dave and I (along with our 5 bags!) packed into the hotel owner's Volvo for a ride back to the Roeselare train station. Our itinerary for the day:

Roeselare > Krijik > Lille > Paris!

We had about a three hour layover once we got to Lille, so we sat down for a snack at a cafe just outside the train station.

Once we got to Paris we headed to our hotel which was about a 10 minute walk from Gare du Nord in a sketchy area that we knew we would prefer not to walk around in after dark.

Can you spot Abe on the video screen?

We quickly unloaded and set out to see some Paris! We decided to walk and then take the Metro back to the hotel before dark. We headed South towards the Picasso museum and snapped some photos along the way.

Unfortunately the Picasso museum was closed until 2012!! Bummer. So, we started walking west towards Notre Dame. Amazing!

Afterward we decided to sit at a cafe and people watch. Did we mention Paris is expensive? A small bottle of Perrier was 7 Euro ($10 USD!). We stayed for one drink and then grabbed a yummy crepe with Nutella and two baguette sandwiches to eat back at the hotel. We took the Metro home, pas de probleme.
